In this post, Ian Hoppe shares how his experience as an electrical contractor led him to found Condoit.

I founded Ccondoit because I was sick and tired of paper-based data collection. It’s outdated, and it requires hours of desk work which causes all kinds of headaches and errors.

The electrical industry’s methods for collecting, storing, analyzing, and sharing data between contractors and clients lag behind other trades, and I wanted to do something about it. So we created an app that streamlines the electrical system data collection and storage process. Condoit is the tool I always wanted when I worked in the field.

Merging Electrical Experience and Engineering Knowledge

I’ve been around electrical engineering since I was old enough to walk. When I was growing up, my dad designed power and lighting systems across the Southeast. He introduced me to electrical theory and design and put me out in the field as an electrician’s apprentice when I was just 15 years old.

My godfather was also in the trade. He was a power systems engineer for the mining industry. He told me stories about designing electrical systems that supported equipment that could spin mining drums the size of buildings and crush rocks the size of cars.

Growing up around the trade helped me develop my perspective on electrical installation, design, and analysis. Through my experiences, I learned more about installation than the average engineer and more about theory than most electricians, but not quite as much as either in their respective fields.

This perspective helped me understand the problem with paper-based data collection. I could see what Condoit needed to be to make life better for electricians and electrical contractors.

How Does Condoit Benefit Electrical Contractors?

Condoit is the first app-based tool for creating single-line diagrams in the field. We’ve added features to support EV charger installations, and infrared reporting and arc flash analysis are coming soon.

Our platform provides reliability, accuracy, and efficiency for electrical contractors.

See the full scope of capabilities here.

We are making your job easier and improving your ability to communicate with your customer. Our platform includes the tools to show your customers how their electrical system affects their risk profile and ability to meet compliance standards.

What will you do with all this extra time on your hands? Whatever the hell you want! You can focus on getting new clients, expanding your services, or something more fun.

Technology With a Blue Collar

Condoit is automating and streamlining the design and engineering process for EV charger and solar installations and dramatically reducing the time from site survey to construction.

I’m proud of what we’ve done, and I’d love for you to check it out. Give us a call or fill out this form, and we will set up a no-cost, no-obligation demo.
